"While traveling, I am impressed by how a sense of place was incorporated into the simplest of our daily routines—drinking a cup of coffee, for instance. The personality of the country, the town, and the café are synthesized into the shapes and colors of the cup, the table, and the surrounding environment. The bustling street outside, the quietness inside the café, the tile work on the bar—these details lend a certain flavor to the experience, making these quiet times memorable.”
René Shoemaker is an artist intrigued by the way spaces work together and how people interact with those spaces.
