Colours of the Moon
New writing from Artemesia Arts poetry competition 2023
When you travel through a bookstore, looking forward to a really good read, don't you find that the cover of a book often calls out to you?
Well, I'm happy to report that one of René Shoemaker artworks now graces the cover of a published poetry anthology!
The book is available now on Amazon, and I am sure will be available in bookstores soon.
I am extremely honored to have been the chosen artist for this series; to read more about Artemesia Arts you may do so by clicking here: Artemesia Arts
In September of 2022 I wrote about my first experience with this poetry association - I loved the experience and felt immediately at home with these fellow creatives. I was over the moon when the Artemesia Arts team* asked me to provide artwork ideas for the cover of their new anthology.
The 2023 poetry@treignac weekend this year was just as exciting as the first one. In addition to my personal growth as a poet sharing my ideas in the writing workshops (using all five senses, and incorporating humor into our writing, for example), I led a printmaking workshop for the poets. We created linoleum prints from poetic ideas they had explored during their weekend writings. I was delighted to see how they artistically expressed their visions, and they all seemed pretty happy to learn a new skill creating prints they could then display and share with their friends and families.
